The Instructor

Debralee’s love of teaching dance started whilst training to become a ballerina when she was given many opportunities to teach ballet classes from tiny tots (babies) to teens going through intense training for their difficult RAD Ballet exams. 
Since then Debralee has taught at various dance schools and high schools in Sydney preparing students for their Annual School Concerts and Ballet Exams. 
It was early in 2008 that Latin Dance Australia invited Debralee to become a part of their Professional team.  They also gave her the opportunity to pass on her technical knowledge to the team where she took them through the intensive training she underwent for years to becoming the versatile and disciplined dancer she is today.
Debralee has the ability to teach any age at any level – her true love is to dance and teach in order to pass on and impart her knowledge to other aspiring lovers of dance.

The Performer

Debralee began dancing at the tender age of 5 and has been dancing for the last 23 years.  She trained for over 15 years with the Jenny Kay School of Dance where she received intensive RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) classical ballet training as well as in many other styles such as Tap, Jazz, Folk and Contemporary. 
In 1999 she was accepted into the prestigious Brent Street Full-time Performing Arts Course where she was awarded the Certificate IV in Performing Arts and performed at:
• The Official Opening of Stadium Australia dancing with Terence Trent D’Arby and INXS;
• The Official Opening of Fox Studios Australia dancing next to Kylie Minogue and Marcia Hines to name a few.
Whilst teaching classical and contemporary dance at various schools in Sydney, Debralee was introduced to the Latin world where she discovered Samba and never looked back! Debralee has been studying Samba for the last 5 years at Latin Dance Australia. In 2008 she began teaching Samba and studied under such amazing persons such as:
Marcia Percival, Amy Mills and Graziela Oborn.
She considers these people as truly inspirational and would like to thank them for all their wisdom and guidance throughout the years.
It was through Latin Dance Australia where she was given the opportunity to perform at:
• The 2006 – 2009 Darling Harbour Latin Fiesta
• The 2006 – 2009 Darling Harbour Brazilian Festival
• The Latin Dance Australia Ball – 2006, 2007 and 2008 receiving in 2006 the Best Brazilian Afro Performer Award and in 2008 receiving the Best Overall Performer Award.
• The Latin Dance Australia Ball 2009 – in which she choreographed a Lyrical piece, and also choreographed the Samba Axe routine.

• The 2009 Australian Dance Festival.
• The Sydney Salsa Congress 2009 – with the Student Samba Team and the Professional Zouk / Salsa Team.
• The Sydney Salsa Congress 2010 – with both Samba teams and also the Shines On2 Salsa Team

She also travelled to Korea to compete in the Gangnam International Dance Festival in 2008 with the Advanced Samba Swat Team.
Debralee has also expanded her repertoire by embracing Salsa, Zouk, Reggaeton Bachata and many more as well as her serious and passionate commitment to teaching Samba.

The Person

Debralee is a bright, cheerful and ambitious 28 years old with a very positive outlook on life!  She possesses a very creative personality with a heightened sense of the original. And she is definitely a people’s person.
Her other passions are make-up artistry, fashion and travel after attending university in Rome, Italy, and experiencing the many cultural delights of Europe.
Debralee’s current goal is to travel the world through dancing.
